This is an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer II in our Des Plaines IL office. You will perform refinery/petrochemical process design work to produce Schedule A design packages. Work in a team environment to develop heat and material balances, PFDs and P&IDs, size/specify large scale refining equipment including reactors, fired heaters, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping and related equipment. Run process simulation tools for design and alternate cases, size process piping, run hydraulics and develop project specifications including for all major equipment. Participate in the maintenance and development of related design tools and documentation.

Create engineering designs for customer projects

Produce customized project specifications

Participate in maintenance/development of design tools

Provide Sales Support assistance on proposal development

Plan, execute project assignments; customer interface

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • US Citizenship or US permanent residency is required
  • Minimum of 3 years process project engineering experience
  • Some industry experience within refining, petrochemical or gas processing
  • Some experience in process engineering including the use of flowsheeting software (UniSim)
  • Some experience in leading projects, including planning, organizer, monitoring
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong focus on delivering results and identifying alternative solutions
  • Some knowledge of UOP Technologies
  • Strong presentation skills including MS PowerPoint, Leading Meetings, Customer Presentations
  • Ability to travel, including globally
