Accomplishes information systems objectives by managing staff, managing,

supporting and monitoring all the information systems that support the credit

union’s business. The primary job role is to plan, organize, and direct the activities

of the credit union's data processing department and its operation. The manager

is responsible for business system evaluation, upgrade, conversions, department

budget, department training, scheduling and documentation. Works as a liaison

among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate

requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems.

The manager actively participates in the development of new services and

procedures as they relate to IS support of business operations. Ensures user

acceptance and business results are met with minimal risk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes information systems staff results by communicating job
expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching,

counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and

enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

information systems; auditing application of systems.

  • Enhances information systems results by identifying information systems
technology opportunities and developing application strategies.

up procedures and information security and control structures.

  • Accomplishes financial objectives by determining service level required;
preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances;

initiating corrective action.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational
workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal

networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in

professional organizations.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Uses deep business knowledge, a clear understanding of a business unit’s
business strategy and objectives, and a strong understanding of enterprise

systems to define project scopes and system requirements that meet both

business and end-user needs.

  • Performs in-depth studies of special projects and new services and advises
management of the system's capabilities to support these programs.

  • Ensures that system conversions are timely, and scheduled with minimal
disruption of normal work flow or down time.

  • Assures proper implementation, documentation, monitoring, and control of
systems, software, and operations.

  • Responsible for implementation procedures for installation of new software
upgrades and releases.

  • Consistently ensure that departmental processes, procedures and training
are complete, efficient, and positively impact the member experience.

Monitor changes for process improvements and maintain integrity of

appropriate policies and procedures.

  • Maintains good relations with internal business partners and external
vendors that provide computing and application services relating to credit

union operations.

  • Regularly consults with business unit management on business system
design and capability and connects the business units to the larger IT


  • Leads far-reaching and high-profile process improvements and cost-savings

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships internally and externally,
providing long-term benefits to the organization.

  • Analyzes areas of credit union operation in order to make efficient and
effective use of the data processing system and informs management and

staff of system capabilities.

  • Responsible for end of year IRS reporting jobs to include 1098, 1099 and
CUNA IRA reporting and ensuring the output is made available to members

and reporting agencies in a timely fashion.

  • Monitors the transmissions and return items for share drafts and electronic
funds transfers of direct deposit of net pay and government recurring

payments to ensure that all funds are posted accurately and timely.

  • Other duties as assigned.

This position supervises the Business Analyst positions, Technical Support Specialist

position and Software Engineer.

Education and/or Experience

A 4-year bachelor degree in computer science, software engineering, information

technology or other related degree plus 5 years’ experience working in IT business

analysis positions OR a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in IT management

and/or business analysis positions.

Physical Demands

Position requires ability to use a computer for 6 or more hours a day. Travel and/or

work off-hours may be required. Position requires ability to lift or transport

equipment over 50 pounds.
